Church Bells

The ringing of bells is “The Voice of the Church” in the wider local community.

They mark, among other things, the arrival of Sunday morning; the celebration of National Events; the arrival of brides at their wedding; the final passing of a life.

The bells at St. David’s are rung regularly for:

  • Sunday morning service: 10:00 - 10:30
  • Sunday evening service: 17:00 - 18:00 by arrangement
  • Wednesday practice: 19:30 - 21:00

You are welcome to join us to ring or observe the ringing.

The bells are rung at other times of the year, including to celebrate the Moreton Show (first Saturday in September) and the Christmas Market (last Saturday in November). They are rung muffled for Remembrance Sunday.

At St. David’s there are eight bells set for full circle English style bell change ringing. With one person per bell it takes eight people to make the bells ring out. It is the unique mix of physical, mental, musical and social aspects of bell ringing that makes it an attractive hobby for many people of all ages.

Would you like to learn to ring a bell?

Anyone over 18 years, or between 12-17 years if accompanied by a parent, is welcome. Beginners are taught on Wednesday evening between 19.00 - 19.30. For more information please contact the Church Office.
