In 2000 St. David's Church embarked upon PLAN 2000, a project to refurbish the church itself, and buy and redevelop the Youth Centre next door. To that end the Youth Centre was bought, renamed St. David's Centre, and certain initial work was done. However more major work awaited Phase 2.
The second part of PLAN 2000 involved the development of the church building itself to provide an improved worship centre, with better sound, seating and heating, and overall facilities. The floor was sanded and sealed, new chairs purchased, and a new AV system installed. There is a new bookstall, new coffee-making and serving facility. The chancel and sanctuary have been opened up, creating a new dais at the front. The new heating system has been installed, and a new entrance opened up where the kitchen used to be. There is now a new glazed door in the main entrance, and a new disabled toilet. The chancel screen has been placed in front of the side chapel, thus creating a wonderful quiet space.
