St David's Sunday Club sponsors a boy in Uganda, Stephen Omio, through Global Care. Global Care is a British registered, international Christian children's charity, with charity status in countries including Romania and Uganda. For over twenty five years they have pioneered projects supporting needy children and young people in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and South America. They rely on churches, schools, individuals and families through fundraising and sponsorship to help develop new and existing projects. They aim to support the poorest and most vulnerable children and young people through education; vocational training, feeding and welfare care.
Their strategy is to help needy children by intervening through emergency relief aid, innovatory development schemes and childcare programmes. They focus on some of the poorest children on earth - those abandoned or orphaned, with little or no education, living in slums or as street children. Every project is established within the local community and managed by local Christian staff, overseen by the UK management team. Their support for the children is for the long term.
