PLAN 2000 is a project undertaken by St. David’s
to buy and refurbish the adjoining Youth Centre, and develop the
church buildings. We have raised something over £450,000 for
the project and this has enabled us to make major strides towards
attaining our objectives.
The project has two parts:
1) The acquisition and refurbishment of
the Youth Centre (formerly a School). The Centre was purchased
early in 2002, and since then major improvements have been made, as
shown in the pictures. The Centre has been rewired, and repainted,
a new office has been added, and the hall floor has been sanded and
sealed. New furniture has been purchased, a new cooker added to the
kitchen, new lighting installed, and we await more major work in
Phase 2.
Centre Mission Statement:
St. David’s
Centre exists to support and further the work of the Church in the
community– in its outreach, teaching, pastoral care and service.
We aim for it to be attractive, comfortable, welcoming,
well-equipped and flexible.
2)2)
The development of
the church building itself to provide
an improved worship centre, with better sound, seating and heating,
and overall facilities. So far the
floor has been sanded and sealed, new chairs purchased, and a new
sound system has been installed. Also complete is a new bookstall, new coffee-making and serving
facility, as well as opening up the chancel and sanctuary, and
creating a new dais at the front. The new heating system has
been installed, and a new entrance opened up where the kitchen used
to be. There is now a new glazed door in the main entrance,
and a new disabled toilet.
